This is our last experiment.

In order to make our experiment we needed two plastic bottles of 1´5 liters.

In the first place, we perforated a hole of 1 cm in the corks of the two bottles. Soon we filled one of the bottles with water until approximately three fourth parts and if united the two bottles by the corks. In order to unite the two bottles insulating tape can be used. Is very important a good union between the bottle.

When the bottle with water is on the empty bottle it is observed that the water does not fall easily to the inferior bottle, but if we give a circular movement to the superior bottle is generated an eddy and the water falls easily.

When placing the bottle in the superior part, water does not fall by the little compressibility of the air locked up in the inferior bottle that does not leave space to the water that falls. When the eddy is generated when moving the superior bottle, it is put in communication the air that is in both bottles and the water of the superior bottle falls easily in to the inferior bottle.

In order to make this experiment you need the following materials:

1. An empty softdrink can.
2. A baloon. If we don' have, we can use expanded polystyrene (white cork)

In order to continue with our experiment we make the following procedure:
1. Blow up the baloon.
2. Rub the baloon against your hair or a wool article (for example a scarf).
3. Put the softdrink can knocked down on a table and we approach the baloon. After doing this, we can check that the softdrink can move!

Explanation:
This happens because when rubbing the baloon electricity loads. The attractive electrical forces between the loads or different signs of the baloon and the softdrink can make the tin rotates.

Put the bone into the jar and fill with vinegar. Screw the lid on a jar and to put back on 2 weeks.

So vinegar is rinsing chemical associations's mineral out in the bone organic compounds stay.

Easter Traditions in Poland

There were holidays in April in Poland. We would like to tell you something about them. Easter is very traditional holiday for us.
It is a happy and important event for all Christians, because of Jesus resurrection. 40 days before Easter there is a Lent to prepare our hearts and souls for the resurrection of Christ. The last days of Lent are called Paschal Triduum. All of us go to church on these special days. Maunday Thursday is the beginning of Paschal Triduum.

On Holy Thursday we commemorate the Last supper. Good Friday’s when Jesus was crucified. There is no singing in church. No instruments can be heard. We pray silently by the cross which is a symbol of Christ suffering. On that day we limit our food to one and two small meals and don’t eat any meat. The Holy Saturday is the day preceding the day of resurrection . In the morning the entire families go to church in order to bless food. We also go to church in the evening in order to participate in the Holy Mass. The priests bless water and fire. On Sunday Easter we participate in a very ceremonial mass early in the morning. It is the Resurrection Mass. After that the entire families sitt down at table and have special breakfast. We eat the food blessed by the prest in the church. After breakfast children get presents. We wish each other Happy Easter. In the afternoon we meet our friends and relatives. Before the Easter we have a lot of housework. We must clean our houses and flats and prepare food. But we like Easter so much!

The symbol of Easter is egg and Easter bunny. We also paint eggs prepare in many different patterns and colours. Eggs are the most important dish on our Easter table.

We prepare them in different ways . There are also: white sausage, żurek (tradition soup) and horserdish. On Monday People play a special games. Boys throw water over girls. In exchange they get a sweet. Another Easter game is hitting hard- boiled eggs against each other. The person whose egg doesn’t break is the winner. Next game is Egg hunt- eggs made of chocolate hidden in various place for children to find.

I put a needle into a piece of cork. The sharp end of the needle is outside of the cork. I put the cork in a neck of a bootle. I put a glass on the needle. I charge a pole by rubbing with a piece of fabric. I put the pole on the glass. I put my thumb close to the pole and make it move.

In Frýdlant´s castle album you can see wonderful chairs. Albrecht from Valdštejn lived there. He was very good captain of the imperial army. How you can see it´s a very nice castle.
In Kostnice you can see a lot of bones of our famous kings. There is a pyramid of bones. We hope you will like it.

Ondra:
Hašlerky are typical Czech bonbons which are named after the famous Czech man Karel Hašler. Karel Hašler was born on 31 October 1879 and he died on 22 December 1941 in Mauthausen. Karel Hašler was a songster, an actor, a composer, a writer, a dramatist and a producer. Enjoy them.

Tereza, Klára and Daniela:
These biscuits are typical Czech sweet. The name of its manufacturer – Opavia comes from a Czech town Opava. Hope you’ll like it.

Aluminium rod and heat

Pierce the middle of an aluminum rod, slightly above the center of gravity. Hang the rod on a revolving stand. Stick a glass-headed pin in a cork stopper, and use this as the axis of rotation. Put the rod in the horizontal position. Make one side hot. As the rod is heated, this raises the energy of particles and thus increases their weight. So the heated arm is heavier and sinks down :-).
Truth be told. Heat extends the aluminum rod; the center of gravity moves to cause a new rod position, with a stable center of gravity below the point of suspension.

I’ll take ice cubes and I put them into the glasses. Now, I’ll give the pillow on the first glass with ice cubes.
We have to wait for 2 minutes.
After 2 minutes we can see how the ice cubes under the pillow melt down as slowly as ice cubes without a pillow. Why? The pillow doesn't heat, pillow keeps a body temperature. So, the pillow can't heat up ice cubes.

A glove that comes to life

To perform our experiment we need a latex glove, a plastic bottle and a water container.

We cut the bottle in 2 parts and then we fit the glove on the top of the bottle.
If we introduce the bottle in the container we can see that the glove is filled with air

Explanation
The air trapped inside the bottle is pressed and the glove is filled when we introduce the bottle in the recipient.

This increasing of pressure depends on the amount of water that comes into the bottle.

My family collects stamps from trips, and because we are very good tourists we have got many stamps of various castles, cities, ...I think tourist stamps are very beautiful memories for trips.

First I pour cream on the bottom of a glass and add some vanilla sugar to it. Second I take a tiny cup, and I fill it with snow. Then I measure the temperature of the snow. When the temperature is around minus 12 degrees Celsius, I put the glass with cream and sugar into it. Third I stir the cream to make it smooth till it´s frozen, and I taste it.

At the beginning you need to make the hole in the cups then fill a bottle with water and spin. Later you join the two bottles and twist tape around. At the end invert the bottles, shake them and observe the water whirl.

Necesary materials:
big bowl, water and tablet's packaging.

To make this experiments pour some water into the bowl. From the tablet's packaging cut out the places where tablets were and put them carefully onto the water. Observe their movement. At first we will see interaction of just two elements and later the others.

The elements cut of the tablet's packaging represents molecules, which attract each other. Among the particles we can observe forces of the molecules interaction. They can attract each other and therefore they are also called cohesive forces. In fact the interaction among the molecules is the effect of the surface tension of liquid.
You see that one of pieces haven't attracted each other. It is because it is partially submerged.

Description:
On the basis of this experiment it is possible to state that rubbing some substances is triggering changes causing interaction. It is possible to divide electrifying materials in two categories.
Materials belonging to the same category after charging are pushing off, and materials belonging to all sorts categories attract each other.

Materials you will need: food Colouring, liquid dish soap, shallow pan/dish, whole milk (room temperature)

Put some milk into the pan. Allow the milk to come to room temperature. Add a few drops of different coloured food colouring into the pan of milk. Add a few drops of liquid dish soap into the pan of milk. Watch to see what happens.

The fat in the milk is broken down by the liquid soap. This causes the food colouring to swirl and make some really neat designs.

Take a spoonful of soap powder and place it in the bowl Add several drops of the vinegar onto the soap powder in the bowl.

This reaction becomes a bubbling froth that gives off carbon dioxide gas. Once it finishes frothing, it leaves behind a salt substance that is not edible (DO NOT eat this salt). This chemical reaction is caused by the vinegar acting as the acid and the soda is the base.

Materials you will need: paper towel , lemon, knife, plastic cup or bowl, dirty/old copper coins

Cut the lemon ans fill the cup/bowl with some lemon juice. Put the dirty copper coins in the juice and let them soak for a few minutes. Remove the coins from the cup/bowl and place on the paper towel..

Oxygen in the air reacts with copper, making a copper oxide coating. This is what makes copper coins dirty. The acid in the lemon juice reacts with the oxide and removes it from the coins – making then shiny copper coin.

- some tool (we used spoon)

Prepare saturated solution of salt water. Try to mix as much salt in wateras is possible. Put the tool into the glass. (You can also attach a piece of woollen yarn in the middle of the little stick). Put the glass in a warm place for a couple of weeks.

Observe the appearance of salt crystals. The grown crystals are in the shape of cuboids with shiny and smooth sides.

- 2 eggs (1 raw, 1 hard boiled)
- 1 litre jar
- salt

The way of carrying out the experiments:

Fill half of the jar with water. Prepare a solution of salt and water. Put the eggs into the solution in which the eggs should sink. Observe the movement of the eggs when a little amount of fresh (sweet) water is being poured in.

Raw eggs has a bigger density than water, that's why it sinks after putting it into the jar with fresh water. Adding salt to water, increases the wieght of water. The weight of fresh water is smaller than the weight of egg. Dissolving salt in water increases the force of uplift which acts on the egg.

Strong Air

Aids: a stick or a ruler, a big piece of newspaper Lay a ruler on a table.

Hit the ruler. The ruler flies away without breaking. Again, lay the ruler on the table and put a piece of newspaper on it so that there is no air under the newspaper. Flatten the piece of newspaper carefully. Quickly hit the ruler again. The ruler is broken.

The air above the piece of newspaper pushes it down with a big force. The ruler isn´t strong enough to lift the piece of paper. When you hit the ruler slowly, there is enough time for some air to flow under the piece of paper and to balance the air pressure under and above the paper.

Our Portuguese friends visited us

We were visited by a group of Portuguese students from Loulé. They arrived at Torneo petrol station without having breakfast. So the first thing we did after introducing was precisely to go to a bar and had breakfast. At first it was a little difficult to get into contact but after a few minutes we began to speak with them.

Walking down Alfonso XII street we arrived at the Museun Square where some students told them about this historical place including the statue of our famous painter Murillo; it was funny because some of them understood "Mourinho" and we all laughed. Then, we continued to the Silencio church, where other students explained them briefly about the brotherhood.

As they wanted to know where to buy some presents, we told them they were just in the center of the town and showed them Duque square. Finally, after this tour, we went into the school. Sister Cocha and Marisol were waiting to greet them. Alexander, their teacher asked me about our school and the Spanish educational system , although he knew a lot because he had been working in a Spanish school for a short period of time.

Manu was at the Concert Hall (salón de actos) to share our experiments. It was perhaps the best part; that is to say, both groups joined by the same idea: Funny experiments connecting us.

After the experiments in our school, we began our little tour of about one hour and a half starting in Sierpes street and walking around the main commercial axis downtown. Then we reached Plaza de San Francisco and Seville’s immense cathedral. We had a fantastic view of La Giralda from Plaza de la Virgen de los Reyes, where we took some pictures.

We surrounded the old walls of the Álcazar until we finally entered Santa Cruz quarter (old Jewish neighbourhood with very narrow streets). From Plaza de Santa Cruz we arrived at the famous Plaza de Doña Elvira. After a short walk along Callejón del Agua and Murillo’s gardens, we found Seville University.

Finally we walked our way back arriving at Plaza Nueva, the city’s principal public square, until we finally reached Plaza de la Campana again, where Portuguese students were left to have lunch at a fast food place.

Alexander was explaining us that secondary education courses in Portugal have a duration of three years, corresponding to the 10th, 11th and 12th grades, and is open to students who have obtained the basic education certificate. Attendance to these courses is optional. Usually, students are aged between fifteen and seventeen.

There is a variety of secondary education options available to students. They can choose between courses aimed primarily at those seeking to enter the job market (technology courses) and others for those hoping to continue on to higher education (general courses).

All courses contain a technical, technological and vocational element, as well as Portuguese language and culture, in accordance with the general thrust of the course, and students are able to cross from one course to another. The curriculum is divided into subjects, with one teacher, in principle, for each subject.

Description of the method of execution:
We pour water to the plate. In the middle ofthe plate we put a candle and light it.We cover the burning candle with the jar so that the outlet is submereged in water. We wait until the candle goes out (oxygen consumption as a result of burning of the candle) observing the water level rising in the jar.
Explanation:
During the burning of the candle oxygenis consumed. Oxygen is strictly reqired for combuston, so after firing up the oxygen in the jar candle goes out. Lack of oxygen in the jar is the cause of the underpressure in the jar. Due to the pressure difference between pressure in the jar and the atmosphere(which is greater), water is pulled into the interior of the jar.
In addition, burning the candle heats the gasinside the jar. The heated air expands while increasing the pressureinside the jar. Due to the pressure difference (between the gas pressure inside the jar and atmospheric pressure) of air comes out of the jar. After the candle goes out the gas temperaturein the jar gradually decreases, causin reduction in pressure in the jar and pulls the water inside.

Light a candle. Blowing vigorously through the funnel next to a candle flame. Flame leans toward the blast.
Explanation:
Blowing next to a candle flame produces a stream of air. The air pressure outside the stream is greater than in its interior. The difference in pressure causes the outer layers of air movement toward the interior of the stream. Candle flame bends as indicating the direction of the resultant air movement.

Air in your lungs

Fill the bottle with water, close the neck of the bottle with your finger and put the bottle upside down into the box with water. Then push the hose into the bottle and blow into the hose as long as you are able without aspiration. Now you can see how much air you have in your lungs.

Close the neck of an empty bottle with a rubber balloon and then put the bottle into the kettle of hot water. The balloon is gradually inflated. The heated air in the bottle expands and the growing pressure causes the balloon on the neck of the bottle to inflate. Then cool the bottle, reducing the temperature of the air inside the bottle. Colder air has lower pressure. External atmospheric pressure pushes the balloon inside the bottle.

Desription of the experiment:
we put outletof the dryer vertically so that it blows thw air upwards. Next we out the ballin the stream of thw air. Now, we can observe the behaviour of the ball which floas in the stream of air. This is called the Bernoulli's effect.
Conclusion:
The stream of the air equals the earthpull of the ball. The pressure outside the stream of the air is bigger than the pressure inside of it. The experiment shows us the development offorces gragging the ball into the streamof air. According to the lawof Bernulli the outgoingair from the dryer's outlet decreases the static pressure in favour of the createddynamic pressure. It (the dynamic pressure)upholds the ball towards the direction of the outgoing air. Whereas the reduced static pressure holds the ball perpendicularly towardsit. The ball floats freely in the air.

Diffusion in liquids

Description of how to do:
Fill glasses halfway with water. One of them fill cold water, and the other with hot. Instill few drpos of ink on the surface of water (after it has stabilized). We can now observe the phenomenon of diffusion in liquids of different temperatures.
Explanatoin:
Diffusion is a spontaneous spread of one substances in another one. The rate of the diffusion depends on the temperaure of the liquid. Diffusion occurs more rapidly in liquids at the higer temperatures. This experience confirms the molecular strucure of liquid and the disordered motion of molecules.
